Taupō Volcano and the M7.8 Kaikōura Earthquake

New publication as a co-author on the following key points:

  • The Mw7.8 Kaikōura earthquake was followed by local deformation at Taupō volcano, c. 500 km away
  • The deformation observed is consistent with either a dike intrusion or aseismic slip on a fault
  • Dynamic stress changes in the range of 0.15–0.9 MPa caused by seismic waves from the Kaikōura earthquake triggered this response at Taupō
